Luton (Report: Israr Khan) The 17th anniversary of the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, the first Muslim woman Prime Minister in the Islamic world, was organized by Malik Mehrban Khan, the General Secretary of the People’s Party South Zone UK.
The event took place at a local restaurant in Luton and was attended by Mohsin Bari, the President of the People’s Party UK; Abrar Mir, the President of the People’s Party EU; Asif Ali Khan, the Youth President of the EU; General Secretary Azhar Baralvi; Muhammad Riaz Komarvi; and Aftab Baghi. The program was conducted by Chaudhry Nisar Maqbool.
Participants included Cllr Aslam Khan, the opposition leader of the Luton Borough Council Conservative Party; Cllr Anwar Malik from the Liberal Democrats; former Mayor and columnist Riza Butt; and former Mayor of Luton Tahir Mehmood Malik.
From the business community, attendees included Mumtaz Butt, Fayyaz Qureshi, Amin Puthi, and Abdullah Khan. Other attendees were Akram Bahu, Chaudhry Arif, Masood Rana, Qaiser Dawood, Shabbir Malik, Imtiaz Chaudhry, Raja Yakub, Azad Malik, Chaudhry Sharif, Yasir Masood, and others.
During the ceremony, the speakers paid their respects to the martyred Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. They highlighted that her lifelong political struggle was dedicated to the stability of democracy, economic development, defence, and human rights in Pakistan.
She bravely resisted all forms of oppression and ultimately sacrificed her life for the people, demonstrating her deep belief in the power of the people to nurture democracy.
All participants on this occasion collectively agreed that Pakistan is currently facing significant external and internal challenges.
Therefore, there is an urgent need for unity among all political parties and to strengthen the reconciliation process to stabilize democracy in Pakistan. They concluded that a policy of reconciliation and mutual unity is essential for helping Pakistan address its ongoing crises.
