Residents who are interested in a career in the construction industry can find out more about opportunities and training at a free event next month.
Taking place on Thursday 19 September at Luton Point, the job fair will allow attendees to speak to employers, training providers and professionals about jobs, careers and training in the construction industry.
Employers participating in the event include Willmott Dixon, Kier and Reactiv8. For residents who have been out of the workforce for some time, representatives from Luton Adult Learning will be on hand to provide guidance and support on training opportunities, job hunting and career development.
Construction is vital to Luton’s economy and society. It’s an exciting time to work in the sector, with major investment in the town’s future through projects such as The Stage regeneration and Luton Town FC’s new Power Court stadium, which will create hundreds of jobs. There is also a high demand for construction in London and surrounding areas, which will rely on the Luton workforce.
Gerard McCleave, Corporate Director for Inclusive Economy, said: “This is an opportunity for residents of all ages and genders interested in a career in the construction industry to get the relevant training to enter the trade, whether you are searching for your first job, a school leaver, a professional wishing to upskill, or changing careers.
“We hope that the job fair will engage and inspire the future generation of plumbers, electricians, engineers and construction professionals as part of our efforts to connect local talent with employment options.”
The construction job fair will be held on Thursday 19 September from 11am to 2pm, at Central Square, Luton Point, LU1 2LJ.
Admission is free and attendees do not need to register.
