2024 Bedfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election results
The results of the 2024 Bedfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election have now been counted and the results published.
John Tizard (Labour) has been elected to the role of Police and Crime Commissioner for the county.
Total votes cast as follows:
Waheed Akbar | Workers Party | 8,396 |
Festus Akinbusoye | Conservative Party | 35,688 |
Jasbar Singh Parmar | Liberal Democrat Party | 15,857 |
John Tizard | Labour & Co-operative Party | 40,738 |
The overall turnout was 19.78%.
The total number of votes cast in Bedfordshire was 100,679.

Running the PCC election in Bedfordshire was a joint enterprise between Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council and Luton Council with the latter taking the lead. Election teams from each authority combined to provide a coordinated approach to running the election.
Robin Porter, Police Area Returning Officer for Bedfordshire said: “It has been my privilege to work alongside highly professional colleagues, not just here in Luton, but in Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire in delivering this election. The three teams across the authorities have collaborated extremely well and I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff who have helped deliver another successful day for democracy across the county.”
The final count took place at Inspire Sports Centre and concluded at 1.20pm, Friday 3 May.
