The speakers demanded for immediate and necessary steps to be taken to bring an end to these unabated human rights violations against freedom loving people of Jammu Kashmir by Indian forces, he added. He said that the participants on the occasion made an important emphasis over the fact that the issue of Jammu Kashmir is not a bilateral territorial dispute between India and Pakistan to be resolved by them only. They unanimously agreed upon the fact that it is a matter of independence and unfettered right to self-determination of a nation with over twenty two million population living in the disputed State of Jammu Kashmir currently divided between, and administered by India, Pakistan and China that could only be achieved through an active participation of principal party to the dispute, the Kashmiri representative, in any dialogue process on Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan.
According to the spokesman many important and valuable recommendations were put forward during the presentations made by the speakers that included holding of meetings of JKLF delegation with British All Parties Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPG) and British Foreign Select Committee (FSC) so that they are apprised about the situation of HRV’s in Jammu Kashmir especially about the injustices done with Yasin Malik and other political prisoners. The British MP’s were recommended to write to both the august bodies, APPG and FSC, about Yasin Malik for necessary actions from their respective offices. MP’s were recommended to let their political parties, especially the Labor Party, incorporate “just resolution of Kashmir issue through grant of unfettered RSD to the people of the entire State of Jammu Kashmir” in their election manifesto.
The participants further suggested to let UK and international community urge India and Pakistan to find the ways and means to let the divided families from across the ceasefire line (LOC-read by both the countries) in Jammu Kashmir be able to meet each other. UK Parliament be urged to form a group of its MP’s as ‘Fact Finding Mission’ to be sent to visit and assess the on ground situation of HRV’s taking place in Jammu Kashmir with free public access to the visiting mission.
At the end of the conference the JKLF leadership expressed their gratitude to the participants especially to the British Parliamentarians for their overwhelming participation in the conference and for expressing their unequivocal concern over the non-resolution of Kashmir issue and gross HRV’s in Jammu Kashmir, injustices made with Yasin Malik and other political prisoners and for raising their voice for the release of Yasin Malik and for the grant of unfettered RSD for the people of entire State of Jammu Kashmir, the statement read.
