LONDON : On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, an International Kashmir Conference was held at the House of Commons of the United Kingdom organized by the JKLF, UK. The unjust life sentence and early release of Muhammad Yasin Malik and other political prisoners, the incidents of human rights violations across the state, especially in Indian occupied Jammu Kashmir, and dignified solutions to the Kashmir issue were discussed by British parliamentarians, representatives and pioneers of other human rights organizations, eminent lawyers, intellectuals and senior leaders of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front participated in this conference wherein the prominent Kashmiri pandit trade union leader Mr. Sampat Prakash and Mrs. Yasin Malik spoke on line from Indian Held Kashmir and Islamabad, Pakistan respectively. The conference was held under the patronage and supervision of Prof. Raja Zafar Khan, Head of Diplomatic Bureau of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front.

According to the statement issued by the party’s central spokesperson Muhammad Rafiq Dar from the Central Information Office, in this successful conference organized by the JKLF, UK, the Member Parliament Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi (Shadow Minister for Transport), Labor Party MP Rachel Hopkins (Shadow Minister for Defence), Lord Qurban Hussain, Labor MP for Leeds Alex Sobel, Labor MP for Leeds Ms Hilary Bean, Conservative MP for Peterborough Conservative MP for Peterborough Paul Bristow, Conservative MP for Crawley Henry Smith and Scotland’s Kenny MacAskill MP for East Lothian, UN registered Jammu Kashmir Council for Human Rights Secretary General and legal expert Dr. Syed Nazir Geelani and Kashmiri leader Irshad Malik Advocate expressed their opinions. The two-hour session of the conference was presided over by MP Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi, while as the President Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Britain Zone Liaquat Ali Lone moderated the event.

According to the spokesperson, the central chief organizer of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Sabir Gul, member Supreme Council Tariq Sharif, member Supreme Council SM Ibrahim Advocate and head of political department of UK zone Sardar Naseem Iqbal Advocate, Senior Vice President Chaudhry Yusuf, Vice President Asad Kayani, Member Diplomatic Bureau Mehmood Hussain, Zonal Organier Sardar Amjad Nawaz, Zonal Gen. Sec. Tanveer Malik, Zonal Information Secretary Sardar Gulfraz Khan, senior leader Mushtaq Malik, Sardar Hafeez Khan, Yasir Naveed, Iftikhar Sharif, Lala Gulnawaz, Raja Zulqarnain, Social Media activist Fakhar Ali, Ms. Sana Malik (daughter of Mushtaq Malik), Amnesty International representative, Palestinian Solidarity Campaign Representative Kamal Hawash, Jammu Kashmir National Awami Party leaders Sardar Shabbir Advocate and Gulfaraz Arif, UK PNP leader Kashif Abbasi, former Mayor of Leeds Councilor Muhammad Iqbal, Councilor Arshad Mehmood, Fight for Right International leader Ryanuddin, Dal Khalsa leader Gurcharan Singh and leaders of ‘Nation Without States’ Faisal Muramazi and Salah Ahwazi participated in the conference.

According to the spokesman, the participants in the conference discussed the above-mentioned topics while condemning the ongoing human rights violations across the state, especially in Indian Occupied Jammu Kashmir at the hands of the Indian forces. The participants, especially the British members of parliament strongly condemned the imprisonment and life sentence of Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik in fake and concocted cases filed against him by NIA. They demanded the early release of all the political leaders detained in various jails in India, including Yasin Malik.

According to the spokesman, while supporting the ‘right to freedom’ and ‘right to self-determination of the people of the state of Jammu Kashmir during, all the participants emphasized on solving the Kashmir issue on priority basis in accordance with the people’s aspirations. According to the statement, Mr. Sampat Prakash, a well-known senior trade union pandit leader, belonging to the minority community from Indian Occupied Jammu Kashmir, addressed the conference online, in which he called Yasin Malik the only, distinguished, worthy and towering public political leader in the State. He condemned the current extremist and hard-line government of India for targeting Yasin Malik as a target of political revenge. He demanded the immediate release of Yasin Malik and appealed to the international community to resolve the Kashmir issue on an urgent and priority basis.

According to the statement, Ms. Mashaal Hussain Malik, the wife of imprisoned revolutionary leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, in her online address also said that her husband Muhammad Yasin Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by India through judicial terrorism. She said that Yasin Malik’s only crime is that he peacefully strives for an early resolution of Kashmir issue. She also demanded the civilized world to take notice of the ongoing human rights abuses in Indian Occupied Jammu Kashmir and appealed them to resolve the long-standing and unsolvable problem of Kashmir through dialogue. She appealed them to use their influence for the early release of all the freedom-loving political prisoners including Muhammad Yasin Malik.

According to the spokesperson, at the end of the conference, senior central leader of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front and Head of JKLF Diplomatic Bureau Professor Raja Zafar Khan read the text of the resolutions based on the following points which were unanimously approved by the participants of the conference.

Resolutions adopted at the international conference held on 12th December 2022 organised by JKLF in the House of Commons London, UK.

  1. The conference welcomes the Report of May 2018 by the UN Secretary General on Children and Armed Conflict, Reports of June 2018 and July 2019 by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the Human Rights Situation in Indian Administered and Pakistani Administered Jammu and Kashmir making recommendations to correct the Human Rights Situation and recommending to honour the right of self-determination as protected under international law, and reminds the United Nations that India and Pakistan have failed to resolve the Right of Self-Determination of the People of Jammu and Kashmir consistent with the Principles of UN Charter, as a consequence the UN SC should urgently consider to enforce the schedule given in the UN template on Kashmir.
  2. The conference calls on the UNSC, and its permanent members in particular the United Kingdom, to ensure that India releases all Kashmiri political prisoners, including Yasin Malik, and facilitate a dialogue process for the permanent solution of the Kashmir issue.
  3. The conference demands that the historic citizenship right (state subject Rule) is restored in Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir, and Pakistan administered Gilgit Baltistan; and calls on Pakistan to safeguard State Subject Rule in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
  4. The conference calls on the UNSC to ensure the fundamental right of all state subjects, to travel freely across the ceasefire line CfL, and to other parts of the world…
